story
The Cristo Liurai Cooperative consists of 18 farmers, all farming between 1500 and 1600masl. The group is led by Luis Santos de Jesus. The cooperative began working with Karst Organics during the 2020 harvest. Karst Organics continue to offer support and training to the community through workshops.
PROCESSING
This lot was processed using a traditional washed technique. Cherry is pulped, before being fermented in tanks. The coffee is fully washed before being dried on raised African drying beds.TRACEABILITY
Sourced through Karst Organics, who solely work in Timor-Leste. Karst Organics are tightly integrated with the communities they source from, spending six months of the year at origin. Karst Organics operate with full transparency and traceability; farmers were paid $4.00/kg for parchment coffee. This is the 6th year they have worked with the Cristo Liurai Cooperative, and our 5th year buying coffee from this farmer group.
