Danche W.S.

This coffee lot from the Danche wet mill was produced by smallholder farmers who live and work in the Worka Chelbesa kebele of the Gedeo Zone in southern Ethiopia. The Danche wet mill was constructed by SNAP Specialty Coffee in 2019, and it is their second site in Worka Chelbesa. The smallholder farmers cultivate Wolisho and Dega, which are landrace varieties from the nearby Yirgacheffe district.

PROCESSING

Ripe cherries are picked by hand and taken to the wet mill. The cherries undergo manual sorting before being dried on raised beds. Turning the cherries regularly is essential to ensure uniform drying and prevent defects.

TRACEABILITY

This coffee was sourced through Ally Coffee. Beginning in 2013 in Brazil, Ally has expanded to source from various origins. This specific lot was sourced from SNAP Specialty Coffee, an Ethiopian exporter established in 2008 by Negusse Debela. SNAP now operates three washing stations in the Gedeo Zone.
