Mensur Abahika Jemal Washed
story
Mensur Jemal owns an 18-hectare farm at 2000masl in the region of Jimma, Ethiopia. Mensur is a part of the Tokuma Farmer Group; a collective of farmers in Western Ethiopia who organise to share knowledge, improve quality and market their coffees to the specialty market.
The members of the Tokuma Farmer Group not only farm their coffee but also process and export their lots. Traditionally the group focused on Natural processed coffees, as the Washed method requires additional infrastructure and carries higher risks. However, starting with the 2022/23 harvest, Mensur and other members began producing Washed lots. We are excited to share this for the first time, expanding our offering from Mensur alongside the Natural.
PROCESSING
This lot was processed using a traditional washed technique. Cherry is pulped, before being fermented in tanks. The coffee is fully washed before being dried on raised African drying beds.TRACEABILITY
Sourced through Osito Coffee. Starting in 2018, in Colombia, Osito has grown to source from a number of origins. Osito works directly with the members of the Tokuma Farmers Group, as each individual producer has their own export license.
