story
The Primavera Family lot is created each year from 10-15 producers, who live and farm in the Huehuetenango region, between 1550 and 1650masl. The idea behind the Primavera Family lot is to give smaller producers a chance to sell to the specialty market, where their individual lots might be too small to stand alone as microlots or single-farm lots. Each lot of Primavera can be fully traced back to the farmers that produced it.

Smallholders in Huehuetenango

Huehuetenango is located in western Guatemala near the Mexican border. It’s one of thecountry’s most remote coffee-growing regions, known for its rugged mountains, highelevations, and exceptional coffee growing conditions. Combined with warm, dry winds blowing in from Mexico’s Tehuantepec Plain, the altitude here creates ideal conditions forproducing outstanding coffee. Because of the altitudes and remoteness of the region, mostfarmers process their coffee at home rather than at a central wet mill.

Primavera’s agronomy team works year-round with producers on everything from soil healthandnatural pest control to pruning, shade management, and improving productivitysustainably.

These practical, low-cost approaches, like reusing coffee pulp as fertilizer and improvingwastewater management, help farmers increase yields while protecting theregion’s naturalresources for future generations.

By improving both quality and farm efficiency, Primavera helps producers earn higher pricesfor their coffee while building long-term resilience for their farms and communities
