Misspent Youth

Misspent Youth combines two naturals: a Brazilian Yellow Catuai from smallholders in the Samba Reserve Program, and a blend of Ethiopian varietals 74110 and 74112 from Mensur Abahika Jemal. The Samba Reserve Program supports smallholder farmers in the Carmo de Minas region in southern Minas Gerais, Brazil. Mensur Jemal’s 18-hectare farm is located in Jimma, Ethiopia and he is a member of the Tokuma Farmer Group, a collective of farmers in Western Ethiopia.

PROCESSING

Both components of this blend are naturally processed coffees. Whole cherries are dried either on raised beds or patios in thin layers. Constant turning of the cherries is required to ensure even drying and to prevent the occurrence of defects.

TRACEABILITY

The lot from Samba Reserve was sourced through Cofinet. Mensur’s lot was sourced from Osito, who works directly with the Tokuma Farmer Group. This is our second year harvest year buying coffee from Mensur Jemal.
